Michelle Obama bans daughters from hanging out with Celebrities!

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Have you read the latest news? I almost feel like I’m doing a little gossip here, but I trust you’ll bear with me until I express my reasoning. You see, I just read from an official news source that Michelle Obama is forbidding her daughters from hanging around with celebrities. In my opinion, that’s very wise of her – those children are suddenly being exposed to a vast and dangerous world, and they would quite easily get tangled up with bad companies.

I’m not saying this just because those are the children of the president and they are expected to set an example. It’s really just because they are children, and most American celebrities are (in my humblest opinion) a lousy influence for youngsters. So that’s a respectable decision from Mrs. Obama, and I sure hope the Obama daughters will be wise enough to understand and obey their mother!

Law of Man vs. Law of God.

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Let’s pause for a minute to think about something concerning the law: we have previously agreed the law is something that man creates in order to make it easier to get along with fellow man. Well, what about the law of God? Arguably it has been created for the same purpose, and as a matter of fact the difference between the two is arguably non-existent.

In fact,we might go as far as stating that the Law of God was actually created by good men doing their best to try and help people get along. This may sound like a heathen thing to say, but come on! Isn’t the law all about trying to help make people get along? What better pretext could there be to achieve such thing, than by using a theological framework?

If you really think about it, all laws – god’s law as well as man’s law, any kind of law revolves around the same principle “treat others as you wish to be treated by others”. If only we could stick to such a simple principle, trust me… all other laws would become obsolete, eventually. In the meanwhile, we can but hope and dream and do our best effort!

Health Insurance: Because it’s better safe than sorry!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I’m telling you: life is great, but just think of all the things that could go wrong! You never know when you’ll get sick or suffer some kind of accident; and while I don’t mean to scare you, I think it’s always good being prepared for all kinds of worst case scenarios. I mean, it doesn’t hurt getting some health insurance quotes, right?

This is the kind of reasoning that comes along with growing up: better safe than sorry. Once you have your own children and establish your own family, you’ll be likely to find yourself thinking “what if something goes wrong?”… and effectively you never know when something might go wrong, and getting some life insurance is a good way to make sure your family will be granted some security, in case unexpected health issues arise.

If you’re looking for some insurance quotes, here’s a good website for you. Like any other product or service, life insurance comes with a variety of flavors and extra options, so usually it pays off doing some research before making a decision.

Obama fails oath, maybe will no longer be president?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

If there’s something that I hate more than a sore loser is a cynical sore loser. Can you believe this? Those guys over at FOX actually questioned Obama’s right to the presidency, allegedly because there was a mistake during the oath. Well, needless to say Obama had obviously memorized the presidential oath (I mean, he didn’t seem to have had any trouble memorizing the lenghty articulate speech that ensued, right?); but all the while he was expected to repeat the words spoken by Chief Justice John Roberts, who effectively engaged a little flub in there. Well, it goes without saying that those Republicans are only putting themselves to (further) shame, by nitpicking on such a lopsided technicality.

IT training, your remedy for lack of computer skills.

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

In a world such as our own, where technology is progressively deeper-rooted in our daily routines, getting proper IT training is getting increasingly relevant. As you might know, young kids are now getting basing information technologies training right from grade school – and that’s a good thing, too. There are just too many people who really don’t know their way around computers, except perhaps for the most basic tasks such as sending e-mails, browsing the web and writing documents.

In fact, there are many users who barely know how to perform such tasks, let alone being able to install an operating system or a piece of hardware. My earnest advice to such people is quite straightforward: you should really consider getting some online IT training. You’ll get to learn at your own pace, make your own schedules, and more importantly… you’ll be making sure you get educated in how to effectively use computers, once and for all. Aren’t you tired of getting eluded by your machine in little things that most kindergartens would have no problem fixing? If so, this is your call!

yKap? Top rated Bug tracking tools at our service!

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Sometimes, I wish I could write computer programs. Actually, I have a lot of friends who work in programming-related fields, and over the time I’ve grown accustomed to relying on their patient help to tackle code-related issues that come about during my cyberspace excursions and entrepreneurship. Also, every now and then I end up outsourcing minor code-related tasks from the freelance boardrooms – and so far I’ve been happy with the results, but still… sometimes I find myself wishing I could actually write computer programs and be able to communicate directly with computers. Coding sounds like an enticing, but elusive concept for me… one that I couldn’t ever quite fully grasp.

Unfortunately, I can’t reallly tell my C++ from my Python, but still I’ve naturally learned a thing or two – mostly by osmosis from being caught up in the middle of technical conversations. For example, just today I was out for lunch with two software engineers, and they kept going on about this Issue Management Software called yKap; apparently this is an popular online Bug Tracker which provides much versatility and scalability tracking bugs, while writing code.

It sounds like such a powerful and accessible tool that even I could learn to use it… so with that in mind I’ve figured I might as well try and use it to assist me in tweaking this website’s design template. And after playing around for an hour or two… I can see why yKAP (your kind attention, please) is getting so hyped up lately – this is indeed a robust and powerful Bug Tracking Software; I just wish that I had more advanced knowledge that would allow me to take full advantage of this software. It may sound like a dumb thing to say, you know… but after using yKap, I feel that learning how to code might just be a little easier. Maybe I’ve been influenced from listening to my friends praising this bug tracking software?

Framed Signs: A matter of letters and perspective!

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

zh

Today, I was visiting a good old friend of mine. While chatting in his office, I noticed something interesting in the wall – not unlike the picture up there, but sporting his own initials. At it turns out, my friend got his framed sign from this nice website; it allows choosing from a range of different designs and frames, and you can easily get your own Personalized Art that way. Apparently, they take a little over a week to deliver the goods, once you’ve placed your order (which you can easily customize using an intuitive interface). Well, I usually don’t like being a copycat, but this time around I think I’ll indulge a guilty pleasure by grabbing one of those cool frames for my own office!

How important is a College Degree, these days?

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Your education is the single greatest gift you can give yourself. While there are educational opportunities all around us, some of them come at a greater cost than others. A college education might require a hefty investment of time and money upfront but the pay off is much better over time than if you used your life experiences in order to achieve the same level of education that you can pack into 2, 4, or 5 years of an undergraduate education on the college level.

In other words, over the course of your lifetime you are likely to pay far less for your college education than you would pay (in earning potential) for not having a college education. At the same time, each level of college education you receive increases your overall earning potential. This means that a one-year degree in a technical field will provide a modest boost from a high school diploma when it comes to earning potential but an associate’s degree will provide an even better boost. You will see an even more significant improvement in earning potential when you increase from an associate’s degree to a bachelor’s degree. The vast majority of students enter the work force upon completion of a bachelor’s degree. Those students, however, who remain in school for graduate studies often, find that a master’s degree even further improves their lifetime earning potentials.

The problem for most when it comes to making the jump between degrees and educational levels is cost. There are times in life when we simply need to get out of school and get to work. The good news is that it is gradually becoming easier for those with careers to further their education without sacrificing either their careers or their family during the process. Of course there will be some sacrifices along the way but it isn’t an all at once or nothing endeavor. You can work towards your degree by taking online classes, night classes, and Saturday classes. The information age has made it easier than ever before to achieve the educational goals you need to meet in order to satisfy your dreams for the future.

Your level of education will get your foot in the door when it comes to certain jobs and your lack of education will limit you far more than a lack of experience will limit you in many cases. As time grows on, more and more companies are seeking employees that have degrees rather than those who have experience in the field. If you hope to remain competitive in the business world you need to arm yourself with the proper education. Check with your company to see if they offer any sort of incentives for employees continuing their education. You might be surprised to find that your company offers to match your tuition funds or even completely reimburse them if you are working towards a degree that will assist you in your job functions.

There is no wrong reason to get an education. Even if you are applying for a job that won’t use your specific degree, you might find that having a degree at all gives you a boost over other applicants for the same position. A college degree is becoming more and more necessary in today’s business climate. You need to take every opportunity that is available to you in order to get your college degree.

The law of attraction and safe grounds for online romance!

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

In these fast-paced contemporary days we live by, more people keep turning online for some romance. It’s actually pretty normal doing so, nowadays – I remember having read statistics claiming that nowadays, 1 out of 8 couples have met via the Internet. Well, it figures that in the future it will only get increasingly more common, thanks to the advent of communities such as Great Expectations.

In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, this a group of nation-wide communities that focus on helping people get to know each other and possibly find some romance. There are such online groups focused on crows from cities such as Great Expectations – Atlanta, GA, Long Island, NY; Clearwater, FL; and many more! I haven’t tried participating in such a website, however it sure sounds like a nice place to be… especially if you’re a single looking for some company.

For everyone who seems to have trouble getting to know new people in the offline landscapes, I’ll say online dating is the way to go… even more so when get to know people like you, who choose using a website such as Great Expectations, rather than creating a MySpace profile – or worse. If you’re looking for some good old romance in the brand new technological landscapes, maybe you should be looking into that!
