The best choice of vans to lease or hire
So you need a van? Possibly your business involves transportation of goods, or maybe you are a self-employed trader, where your vehicle is both workshop and corporate advertisment. The process of deciding which van is right for you is more complicated than buying a car! Before you search for the best van, think about whether you need one or not. If you are only interested in transporting personal effects, then you could get away with an estate car, which would work out cheaper than a van in terms of economy and the cost of operation.
Other charges to consider are the potentially higher road tax for most vans and cars, and a heavier congestion charge. If it has to be a van that you go for, then which sort will be best for your needs? Is the environment a concern, and would it affect your choice of vehicle? Do you need a micro van, a 4×4, a pickup van or a large van? Look at your options in your price range carefully, and compare any specifications. In general terms, the larger the van, the more powerful the engine (perhaps a V8 or even a V10) which result in the greater cost of running. Micro vans are more fuel efficient as they sacrifice some of their load capacity, but the large vans may be more suitable as they are easier to maintain.
Finally, figure out how you can afford your van: buying or leasing? If you don’t wish to buy, then a van lease is probably the best option. There are a range of different leasing options dependent on the size required, for example: large van leasing or pick up truck leasing. This means you make smaller monthly repayments based on the residual value of the van. When the term is complete, you can simply return the van and walk off, or begin a new leasing agreement. The concept of van leasing is sound, particularly if you enjoy driving a new model every few years and require a lower monthly payment, but you have to travel fixed mileages or it can be counter productive.
