Being one of the most exciting holidays of the year, Halloween is celebrated each #1st of October. Halloween covers a wide range of traditions, such as fireworks and “haunting” costumes, the “trick and treat” custom being one of the most popular of them. The first ones to be acknowledged for celebrating Halloween are the Celts from Ireland and England as the holiday comes from their Samhain festival. The migrations of the Irish and Scottish people to North America that took place in the XIXth century brought diverse Halloween customs with them.

Halloween happens when the world of the living and the one of the dead get reunited and the dead spirits are free to walk the earth again. Because Halloween is the night of the dead, dressing as an undead is an important tradition of the holiday. Besides costumes, another tradition is that of “trick or treat”, similar to the carols on Christmas.
People usually decorate their homes on Halloween with sculpted pumpkins and other “dark” characters. In Ireland, the traditional Halloween pie is a kind of bread that includes fruits and each member of the family receives a piece of it. Each piece contains a coin or a ring, the coin signifying a successful future, while the ring represents a happy life.
One of the most popular of the diverse Halloween games is placing apples, nuts, fruits and coins into a water reservoir. The fruits and coins are collected with the mouth, transforming the game into a difficult one.
A fun thing that people do when playing the game is placing coins inside the apples when children get their turns. The best part of Halloween is that people can dress in any costume they want, becoming someone else for a night, such as a butterfly costume or fairy tale costumes. Amongst other elements, the costume tradition allows adults to enjoy Halloween as much as children do.
Halloween brings together adults and their children with the moment of picking the decorations and placing them all around their houses. Halloween night is party time for people that choose to spend it by going to various bars or restaurants that offer a thematic night. Adults also enjoy the fact that they can become seductive characters with the occasion of wearing diverse costumes.
As a consequence, Halloween became a combination between a holiday and a parting occasion. The fact that adults can have their share of party fun makes Halloween an unconventional occasion. Halloween traditions are different from one region of the world to another, which brings it a special characteristic. Nowadays, as always, people are more than eager expecting Halloween night to begin, even if they spend it differently comparing with the past.
